About the Brand:
Three Sisters by Emma evolved out of a love of beading, fashion, and sisterhood.
The name of my business ‘Three Sisters by Emma’ was inspired by a few different elements. When I initially started beading, my first project was to make a pair of earrings for each of my three sisters. From there, they really encouraged me to put my work out in the world. It reminded me of how much we all can support one another. We see this relationship time and again within ecosystems. An early food group stewarded by Indigenous peoples is known as the Three Sisters. It incorporates corn, beans, and squash. Each plant brings something unique and essential to the group, and ultimately contribute to a stronger soil and a balanced, nourishing meal afterwards. Just like the food group, my sisters and I are connected and have the opportunity to nourish and support one another. By no means do we have perfect relationships – it can be messy sometimes. The important thing is that we recognize the individuality and unique properties everyone can bring to the table. Ultimately ‘Three Sisters’ reflects my understanding of tradition, sustainability, and the importance of relationship.
